I had a great evening with my sweet hubby. We didn't do much really, but it was a perfect evening for us. He took me to Abuelos for dinner, then took me shopping for new tennis shoes, followed by getting stuff for the house at Lowes.
As always Abuelos was great. It was a no swirl night, but we both had amazing enchiladas. I tried to tell Matt to order their spinach side and he said no way. Well I ordered it and he ended up eating half of mine because, I was right as usual, he loved it.
We then went to Academy and started looking for new tennis shoes for me. I had the great idea, from a student, of how I could get exercise in my day, so I of course needed new shoes. Today I taught a mini-lesson on our bodies and what we can do to make them better. We talked about exercising and the children asked if I exercised often. I AM HONEST WITH THEM, so I said no. I need to but I have a busy life and to be honest I always make excuses. After the lesson and the children completed their assignments, I had a student, a beautiful, sweet girl, come to me and say that she had an idea of how I could get exercise and not interfere with my time. I asked her how she thought I could do that. She said, "You could come with us to PE sometimes and play with us." I said that it was a good idea but sometimes I don't wear shoes that I are good for PE. She agreed and walked away. Well being persistent, she came back to me and said, "You know about your shoes, I bring my tennis shoes when I wear flip flops and just change, you could do that. " It just slapped me in the face. It is being presented to me in a kind way, and I now have no excuse. So starting tomorrow I plan to go to PE with my kids AT LEAST 2 times a week. I told the PE teacher so maybe he would help hold me accountable, though the kids will do it on their own I am sure. "Out of the mouths of babes." So back to my new shoes, after I found the right ones, these cute Nikes that are grey and maroon, GO McMURRY!!!!, we headed out on another shopping journey.
Our last stop for the night was Lowes. Our stray dog that wouldn't go away 2 months ago is ours now, so we are making a dog-run on the side of the house so we can have him but be able to put him up when the boys, who do not care for him, can play in the yard and feel safe.
Overall we had a great night. Time together, conversation, and no yelling kids is always a good night. Oh I must say, we did make a stop by DQ for ice cream on the way home. No better way to end the night then with a waffle bowl with ice cream, whip cream, caramel, and nuts. YUMMO!!!!!!!
